Methodology

What the calculator includes.

Local year-one cost equals salary, employer FICA, benefits and overhead, recruiting, and setup. Ongoing local cost excludes one-time recruiting and setup. Remote staffing cost equals the editable monthly fee multiplied by twelve.

Employer payroll taxUses 7.65%: 6.2% Social Security plus 1.45% Medicare, subject to applicable rules and wage limits.
Benefits and overheadAn editable planning percentage, not a universal market benchmark.
Recruiting and setupShown separately so one-time and recurring costs are not mixed.
Remote staffingUses an editable monthly fee; request profiles for a role-specific range.
Sources and limitations

Use the result as a planning range, not a quote.

Role presets are starting assumptions and should be replaced with the buyer's own compensation data. Software developer salary begins with the May 2024 BLS median. Employer FICA follows the IRS 2026 rates; state taxes, unemployment insurance, workers' compensation, bonuses, equity, and role-specific compliance are not calculated.
